NSSF Chats with Noelani Love, founder and owner of Noelani Designs

Kayoko and the North Shore Soap Factory were lucky enough to catch up and chat with Noelani Love, founder and owner of Noelani Designs!

Kayoko and Noelani sat down to enjoy a beautiful sunset at Sunset Beach on Oahu’s North Shore. Noelani gave us all the latest happenings in her active life and design company. Here’s what she had to say:

Kayo - Can you tell us about yourself?

Noe - I grew up on the East coast in Charlotte, North Carolina. My mother is Hawaiian so I would spend my summers in Hawaii, and I always wished that this was my home. I was blessed enough to move here in 2005 after I graduated from college, and now it is!”

Kayo - You have a two and a half year old son, what is your favorite activity to share with him?

Noe - My son’s name is Aukai, it means ‘of the sea’. I love to go to the beach with him! He is learning to swim, and watching him learn to kick, stroke and hold his breath underwater is an amazing process. He likes to ride on my back underwater like a little monkey!”



Kayo - When did you start designing and creating jewelry?

Noe - I started creating jewelry pieces in college as just a hobby. I’ve always had a passion for creating things, and I love that I can wear my art. It wasn’t until after I graduated college in 2005 that I started selling my pieces. My company Noelani Designs started soon after.”

Kayo - Noelani Designs was invited to Japan for the Love Hawaii Festival. What was your favorite part of the trip?

Noe - “It was so exciting! I think experiencing the culture in Japan was my favorite part of the tip. The culture is so respectful and polite, it was really a great opportunity to travel to Japan.”

Kayo - You company is expanding quickly! Can you tell us a little but about what this is like?

Noe - Noelani Designs is going through an interesting transition. The company is growing every day and there are now three employee who help me manage my company. I think training everyone to take over much of what I did in the past could be difficult, but neccassary. It is important to me that I meet the consumers demand for my jewelry, and lead an active life style on the North Shore as well.



Kayo - We were so excited to hear that you used our products! What are some of your favorite North Shore Soap Factory products?

Noe - Yes! I love the Coconut Cream Tropical Skin Therapy Lotion. It’s a very smooth moisturizer and I love to use it on my face after my son and I play in the sun. I also love the Coconut Sea Salt Scrub. It makes my skin feel great after swimming in the salt water. My son Alkai loves to rub it on his fingers in the bathtub too!.”

Kayo - What do you think is the most important thing to look for in a skin care product?

Noe - “I think it is very important that all natural ingredients are used in the products. I won’t use skin care products with chemicals or artificial preservatives. That’s why I love skin care products from the North Shore Soap Factory! It is important to have a product that works but also has integrity to it.”

Noelani creates all of her designs at her home on the North Shore of Oahu.

Creating jewelry since college, Noelani says that it began has just a hobby. She only started selling her pieces five years ago.
